More old videos from the Surf Line from 2002 into 2003. I started at the beginning of this VHS tape and added the first 11 trains to make this 7 minute video. Shots are mostly in San Diego with the exception of one in Irvine and one in Carpinteria, CA. These were the transition years of Amtrak...Pacific Surfliner equipment primarily sprinkled with 2 to 3 low level Amfleet sets running around. The Dash 9 locomotive dominated the BNSF, the Coaster horns were prime, and best of all...no Siemens invasion of American railroading! Ahhhhhhh....The good old days on the Surfline...

Last night BNSF 1115 and a CSX motor powered the V-SBDSDG auto racks into San Diego. I caught it passing thru Sorrento Valley at around 1am. I also included a throwback P42DC #57 clip from 2020. Nice video man! It’s so crazy I was going to message you yesterday about P42 #60, it was leading the Chief yesterday #3 it’s still out there as we speak. That #60 is solid so is 183 and 181, I just got 181 and uploaded it a week or so ago and since this video 181 has improved! UP 9007 sounding nice too.

All P42s except for 314 trailing on 11! That's going to get increasingly difficult to see. Rather surprised that all the leading units had decent older horns too. Great video!
